Value per Minute

I think 90% of YouTube is junk and does not add any value to the world. The platform is plagued with AI slop, manipulative hooks, clickbaity thumbnails and titles. Most videos are unusually long to suit the algorithm and be eligible for mid-roll ads. I think most videos can be cut down by 80% to convey the crux of the content.

There's no more You in YouTube. Almost every video follows a template that works well for the algorithm. I wonder what's the You in YouTube today.

The metrics are adapting to user behaviours and are also defining future user behaviour.

I think the only metric that should matter in content creation is "value per minute". How much value are you providing to your audience is the key question creators and brands should be asking. You can fool people now, however eventually people will figure out and not pay attention. Being genuine, respecting yourself as well as the audience will be of great service to the world.

Put back the You in YouTube and be You, not someone else.

It's one of the world's greatest platform to build a voice and share your story. Be You!

Focus on the value per minute.
